Nobody Stands In Between Me and My Man.

2 legit 2 quit!

On October 2, we eloped in Vegas.

We got hitched at Chapel of the Flowers with a very intimate ceremony (read: no guests). We high-fived after our kiss. We ate lunch at the Bellagio buffet in full wedding attire, save for my Air Force 1′s. We dined at Tao, where we drank a bottle of sake and talked about race. The only thing I could’ve asked for was to have our moms and our daughter present. Other than that, we did everything just the way we wanted, and we had a blast.

I didn’t expect us to feel any differently since we were deliberately not making a big deal out of our wedding; in fact, I had actually drafted a post a few weeks ago about how hesitant we were about marriage, how it seemed like a huge leap of faith given our experiences coming from divorced families. We didn’t want to participate in the Wedding Industrial Complex, we didn’t want to go into this with lofty expectations, and we wanted to be very realistic about our chances. But sometimes you just have to leap.

So here we are. Young, possibly naive (though we already have the baby and the mortgage), but very much in love. And honestly, it feels awesome. This dude is so into being my husband. I can’t believe how lucky I am.

We’re fuckin MARRIED and it makes me want to dance!
